 “THE ROMA’S BLACK DAY”

1. O God you tell me loudly ! Who burnt the houses of the Roma people? Who caught and killed the innocent Roma people? Who put the unfortunate Roma people in the Gas – chambers?

2. O God tell me the truth ! Who raped the helpless young Roma women? Who snatched away from mothers their children? Who sold innocent Roma like a sheep in the markets?

3. O God tell me the truth ! Who chased -away the hungry Roma people from place to place? Who spilled the Roma blood on the long roads? Who made the poor Roma people homeless and graveless?

4. O God you listen to me ! Why Roma are moving from place to place jobless? Why Roma women are moving as beggars in the streets? Why Roma children are moving here and there with out books?

5. O God I ask you some questions? Are the Roma people not men like others? Do the Roma people have no right to live like others? Are not the poor Roma people your children, like others ?

6. O my GOD ! Roma don’t forget their “Holocaust” Black –day ! The each Black-day is a big-Shame for the whole mankind ! The rememberance of Black-days, pains Roma Day & Night ! Every year Roma at Ashvit - Birkanau remember their dead people !

Quero divulgar um belíssimo poema que eu recebi de um amigo Janardhan Pathania sobre o holocausto com o povo cigano. Gentilmente ele me pediu a tradução para o português e espanhol.

“O ROMANO -SARVNASH- DIVES”
(DIA NEGRO DA ROMA).

1 . Oh , meu Deus ! Diga-me a verdade!
Quem incendiado as casas ciganas pobres ?
Quem prendeu e matou os ciganos inocentes?
Quem sufocado os ciganos infelizes nas câmaras de gás?
2 . Oh , meu Deus ! Diga-me a verdade!
Quem violou as indefesas mulheres jovens ciganos ?
Quem arrebatou os filhos das mães ciganas ?
Quem vendeu os ciganos como ovelha muda no mercado?
3 . Oh , meu Deus ! Diga-me a verdade!

ENGLISH - TEXT :

Dear Roma Brothers my this Poem is regarding the migration of Roma people from INDIA to the Western - Countries. I request  all the Roma people and others, to study my this small poem in Romani with its English translation  so that they can know their "Romani - History". A renowned Romani Linguist and Historian from London (England) Dr Donald Kanrik wrote a book on this poem in English titled “From Ganges –to- Thames”.

1. Who and where from you are, why you have forgotten yourself ?
Oh my darling !
I searched a lot for your soft foot-prints,
Unfortunately I could neither find you nor your foot-prints.
With heavy heart I cried aloud for “God”!
And he heard and gave me a Talismanic - mirror,
My Talismanic mirror showed me all about the Gypsy/Roma past.

2.  Who and where from you are ,why you have forgotten yourself ?
Oh my darling !
Earlier you had played and sang in your mother-India’s lap,
You ate, drank, laughed and enjoyed a lot.
You are mother India’s charming daughter called “Ramni”
Like a beautiful bird you flew from garden to garden,
And sang sweet Gypsy-songs/Romani-gilia for all.

3.  Who and where from you are,why you have forgotten yourself ?
Oh my darling !
Unfortunately one day a misery fell upon your golden country and it was destroyed.
At dead of night your sleeping father the king of India was murdered by Devils.
And your palace,s court-yard was reddened with blood,
And in tumult your house’s burning lamp was extinguished.
With big fire and thick smoke the Roma’s shining Sun was covered.

4.  Who and where from you are,why you have forgotten yourself ?
Oh my darling !
The time was very cruel and you were helpless.
Where you wanted peace and e new home far from blood-shed,
With bleeding heart you left your mother land India and went far off.
There the crooked Gaje/non-Roma hated and chased you away.
Hungry and thirsty you moved from place to place in far off lands.

5.  Who and where from you are,why you have forgotten yourself ?
Oh my darling !
There the crooked lousy non-Roma gave you the dirty and fake names,
As Lubni and Mugni and Xuraxani and Osmani,
You are mother-India’s forgotten child called “Ramni” and Europe’s tortured “Romni”.
In fact you are Ganges, Farat, Nile, Danube, Themes, Amazon rivers mixed flowing clean water.

6.  Come my darling !
You sit beside me and I will tell you all who you are ? I will take you all around India and show you who you are. You are the golden bridge between the Eeast and west cultures!
You are mother India’s warm blood and flesh!
You are the immortal Romani fire of my heart!
You are the Indo-Romani wisdom !

7. Hai, my darling  Papuza !
You are the blossom of the Indo-Romani songs!
You are the mixed flowing clean water of river Ganges!
You are the forgotton child of mother-India called “Ramni” as Romni!

8. Hai my darling Papuza !
Indians and Roma are Brothers and Sisters !
On your birth centenary I give you, a strong hug full of love and a warm-kiss and leave you with of God !
